mari4212I wrote two stories for Yuletide this year, both for the same fandom:

Summary:
This was my assignment, and my brain kind of went nuts on it, as you can see from the length. At that, this is half of what I was going to go over, plot-wise, but November killed my writing lots. The prompt was anything on Niko teaching Tris, with my recipient pointing out that she as a teacher would have a difficult time with her as a student.
This was also the story where I decided that if Niko hadn't found Tris, she'd have either died in a freak lightning storm or gone total evil sorceress. And thus, the main focus of the plot as I conceived it was Niko teaching her to the point where she wasn't going to kill herself on accident, and wasn't going to go total evil queen on everyone. As it is, I got to the point where she'd had her first experience of her own power and limits, which at least got the accidentally killing herself bit out of the way. I still might go back and write the second half, through book two, where she makes the decision that in canon I think is what made Niko stop worrying as much about her going dark side.
This is also the fic where I spent ages figuring out Niko's timeline that Spring and fact-checking myself over and over again. It sucked realizing that he hadn't let on he was a mage until midway through the Winding Circle bit, and I had to re-write three different scenes where he and Tris had discussed it as a given.

Summary:
This was a random treat written because the recipient went up as a last-minute pinch hit and I got a plotbunny. Everyone seemed to like it, which is interesting, because I wasn't so thrilled with it myself and posted it mostly as a failsafe idea that the recipient would at least get two quickie fics instead of one. Fandom claw in full display, guys, as this one seemed to win Yuletide within the fandom i was writing in.
At least both recipients seemed to really like their fics, and I got to re-immerse myself in Emelan and fall in love with the characters again.
