I got my test scores back for both Art and Philosophy. 100% and 92%. Guess which one I was prouder of? I actually worked for and earned that ninety-two in Philosophy. The art test was just so ridiculously easy that it doesn't mean anything to get a good grade there, not for me. I'm blaming this attitude on my parents, who didn't care if I got a C in a class as long as I actually learned something and gave it my best effort.

Then in Philosophy, we started discussing early Christianity, leading up to our discussions on Augustine and Aquinas. And we immediately got side-tracted onto discussing the Bible, and how it has been assembled and translated through the years, and why it's pointless to try to say that one English translation is the exact, literal truth. Of course, all the background on the early church that various teachers have spent years pounding into my brain came pouring out, so for a while the teacher and I were bouncing different answers back and forth. I don't think I need to explain why that was so much fun, do I?

So that was the first good news of the day. Now on to the bad news. One of the kids my mother watches is here today. That would normally be fine, except for the fact that he's been whiny and fussy all week, and has decided that he doesn't like me at all. I'm watching him for an hour while Mom goes to pick up Sara from PT, and he's wandering around fussing, but he only gets worse if I come near him and try to do anything with him. It got so bad over lunch that I actually grabbed his chin when he was throwing a temper tantrum, and proceeded to very calmly lecture him and tell him that this behavior was going to stop. It worked over lunch, but now he's back to generalized crankyness.

To not end this entry on a down note, I went to the library and all the books I'd requested were in, including the one that I've been waiting on for at least two and a half monthes. It's a series of essays on Harry Potter, written by various sci-fi and fantasy fans, and edited by Mercedes Lackey. It already looks good. I'll probably post my reactions to it later this weekend.

What's that Harry Potter essay book called?

And I have the same attitude towards marks, as well.

It's called Mapping the Worlds of Harry Potter. I'm nearly done with it, and it's relatively interesting. A couple of the articles, including one on how Snape's been changed in fandom from greasy git to Slytherin sex god, were highly amusing.
