Okay, seriously, SQUEEE!

Okay, I'm claiming that we so called it!

That Gibbs had a daughter and that she died, that is. When did we first start talking about that idea on the board? Back in October or so, a year and a half ago? I remember talking about that as potential backstory for Gibbs, and linking it in to his attitudes about kids in general.

What happened to his wife, I am a little bit suprised over. Wasn't it canon that she was still alive? That's been the underlying assumption of most conversations he's had with people, hasn't it?

As for other impressions on the episode:

Loved Abby's arrival at the hospital. Director Shepard calls Rice, Abby just babbles her way in.

This is becoming a habit of Tony's, isn't it? When something bad happens, he becomes Gibbs until Gibbs is back. He did it when Kate died, now he's doing it with Gibbs injured.

Anyone else think that Gibbs' doctor has a bit of a crush on Jenny? Just from his attitudes and comments to her, he's seeing her as an attractive and available woman.

So, anyone want to discuss?

Wasn't it GREAT? I was very excited last night.

I think we actually found out about Gibbs' wife and daughter earlier this season (I can't for the life of me remember the episode, though. I think I missed it.) We didn't know what exactly had happened to them, though.

The wife-being-alive thing struck me, too. I was trying to think, do they say he has three ex-wives? He's been divorced three times? Or just, he's had three wives? And I couldn't remember...

I loved the arrival at the hospital! The Secretary Rice thing was appropriately funny, as was Abby's touching ramble. And the nurse was cool.

Yeah, Tony-cum-Gibbs is pretty cool, I think. And I loved how he justified it to the team: "If drinking coffee and slapping your heads helps me lead this team, then deal with it." He's Gibbs...but he's still Tony.

Hee, yeah, I think "Todd" is a bit attracted to the director. It's sweet.

I loved the episode.

I might have missed that, I've been bad about catching episodes this year. But I remember discussing potential backstory about Gibbs, and we decided that his attitudes towards kids indicated that he'd had one once.

There are times when he's mentioned having three wives, but then the references to ex-wives always mention three. My dad had a theory, that this hurt him so badly that he'd prefer to pretend that his first wife divorced him in conversation, rather than open up the old wounds again, and it's supported by the previews where the others had no knowledge about their deaths.

Tony seems to need Gibbs in some form. When Gibbs isn't there, he creates Gibbs by his actions.

And I loved his forcing Abby and Ziva to make up, and then unified them by behaving outrageously. That was very deliberate, and it makes me re-think his social awareness. He's a lot smarter and more aware of how to manage people than he really ever lets on.

Yes. Total episode love.
