*headdesk*

[livejournal.com profile] jadeites_lady, this application is driving me up a wall sideways. This is all your fault.

More generally, since I'm having problems with certain questions, I'm asking my flist. Which Harry Potter character do you guys think I'm most like? And just what would you name a charm that would keep your coffee/tea warm until you've finished drinking it, instead of getting cold halfway through?

Hmmm - I could see you as a Minerva McGonagall type. As for the spell, I can't really help you - my fake Latin sucks. : P

Alas, I don't think I know you well enough to know your character. But I think I can help on the second part.

I just went to a translator and apparently "warm drink" is "tepidus imbibo". Tepido Imbibus, then? I don't know.

The problem with that is that the average person's going to associate tepidius with luke-warm, not hot. But thanks for trying to help.

Well, you've definitely got Hermione's bibliophilia going on. The PT direction kinda gives a Madam Pomfrey vibe. There's McGonagall's cat-love, Dumbledore's patience, Harry's loyalty, Dobby's enthusiasm...you've got a little of a lot of them! Overall, though, I'd say you're probably most like Hermione. Smart and a bookworm, definitely, but also brave and loyal and friendly.

As for the charm...foveo is "I keep warm" in Latin, fervefaceo is "I make boiling," calefaceo is "I make hot," and etiam potio est calidus is "the drink is still hot." :)

*tacklehugs* I'm so glad I have you around. Thanks so much for the Latin help.

You're welcome! Dead language, my eye. ;)

Who Are You?

The Vorlons ask, and I respond: You are Professor Sprout with a dash of Molly Weasley.

C'mon, you're totally 'Puff, and I get the feeling you have a love of things that grow, and you're good with kids and have some skill at teaching. Also, with hair that red, there has to be at least SOME Weasley in you, plus I bet you could kick but if called upon.

As for your charm: Anima Draco

Dragon's Breath. Alas, I couldn't find the Latin word for sneeze, else that would have been more fun. You could also go with Salamander versus Dragon, whichever tickles your fancy (or properly warms your drink without charring anyone you'd miss in the process).

Why do I have the feeling the clause anyone you'd miss is the important clause in that sentence?

Now, you're a clever girl. You know, obviously that Charms should never be used for anything other than their intended purpose, as safety and results can not be guaranteed. But, occasionally, one must improvise...

Like Mal says, even though they say you should never hit a man with a closed fist, it is, on occasion, hilarious.

but but but...

I said you only have to write a paragraph - like 3 sentences per question! It doesn't ask for your blood type or DNA sample like HE! ;)

Yeah, but my standards are still H_E! That means I'm automatically writing out in-depth answers, and when you've got forty questions to answer that way, it adds up. It takes more effort to not write longer answers because of those standards than it does to simply go all out.

Plus, I keep getting stumped on questions like which character is most like me, because none really fit all the way. *points upward where three different people have pointed out three different characters to describe me*

you know, that was a hard question for me too, because I see myself as a cross of at least several characters. I think if you choose one, just list certain characteristics that you share in common with him/her.

RELAX - it's not a test! ^_^ I'll just vote you into Hufflepuff without reading your app ^_~ but everyone else has to read it to get a general sense about you. Think of it like... charades or pictionary or some game where you have to blurt out the answer to a question without thinking all day about it! ^_~ RELAX!

I have a feeling I'm skewing Ravenclaw, because on the few occasions where I'm not over-thinking the questions, I'm pulling out random insanity a la Luna. I think I'm going to have one of the more unique animagus forms because of that.

Glad to know I'll get at least one vote to my natural home.

well, there is the question that says 'which house wouldn't you want to be in'? ;) you could say Ravenclaw because even though you're smart, that doesn't define you. ;)
