Anyone else notice how much Colonel Sheppard from Atlantis matches up with the description of James Potter? Really, messy hair, long lanky body type, hazel eyes...Someone tell me I'm not the only person who sees it.

Also, I've observed that Wesley from Angel has almost the exact same personality as Dr. Bashir from Deep Space Nine. Their characters also seem to go through a similar progression. The main difference is that Bashir's life ends happily, while Wesley's life is an almost unremitant tragedy.

You are not the only one! Sheppard...James...Harry, I am your father...nah, not quite a crossover but close! It is kind of eerie. Maybe he can be James in the OOTP movie, if he finds a British accent.

Now I have a plot bunny. You ever note how Sheppard never talks about his past, how he has no one he wants to send a message to? And how he loves to fly? It's obvious, he's James Potter!

Oh, my gosh, you're right! And he still looks so young because of his magical blood, of course. Hmm, and he's single...so he's going stag...oh, that was terrible, I'm sorry.

Seriously, though, that really is interesting. Imagine Harry's reaction. No, Harry, your dad's not dead; he's just in the Pegasus galaxy...

Really, James Potter is not that old. He and Lily had Harry right out of Hogwarts, and in the current timeline Harry would be 25. Add 17, you get mid forties. Wizards do age slower than muggles do, and Sheppard canonically is close to forty.

He doesn't really remember the wizarding world. Voldemort attacked, and he was knocked out and badly wounded. When Lily died and the curse reflected back at Voldemort the house was destroyed, and the force sent him flying. The neighbors who found him took him to a muggle hospital, and he was then taken in by a former US airforce man, George Sheppard. Remember, he was only 19, and I'd say he looked about 16 or so, especially when he was injured and unsure. George took James out flying in his plane, and James fell in love with flight. Before this they'd been calling James John Doe, and in honor of Sheppard's help in getting into the American Air Force and getting US citizenship, he took the last name Sheppard.
