Jun. 7th, 2006 08:08 pmSo apparently there are hate memes floating about, where people get together and anonymously state nasty things about people. Wow. How do people have that much time on their hands, and that much spite, that they'd take so much time and energy and invest it in sniping at people? I am so glad I'm in one of the backwater pockets of fandom, I avoid most of the insane stuff like that. My sympathies and condolences to anyone on my flist who finds out they are mentioned on one of those.
In other, better news for the day. Well, let's see, Mom and I figured out how to make our own enchilada sauce, so now we don't have to waste money on those mixes that never have enough in them.
I also finished Sociology today, turned in my papers, took the test, and I was out of there. No more being polite to the jerky guy! Art class was fine, we played a silly review game. Several of us are planning on meeting before the test on Friday and reviewing together, I got asked to come specifically so that people could pick my brain. Apparently, the rest of the class thinks I'm incredibly smart. I'm not going to comment on that one.
I'm rereading Madeline L'Engle, and remembering exactly why I love her stories so much. Her prose is just beautiful.
And I'm almost done with the Susan fic for
elvisvf101, after I finish that I'd love to get more specific prompts from you guys. You all know my fandoms by now.
And check out the new icon. I finally have a squee icon!

Date: 2006-06-08 12:59 am (UTC)Hey, I'm rereading Madeleine L'Engle, too! I've been doing a lot of rereading this summer, and ML has always got to be included in that. What specifically are you reading? I'm going through A Wind in the Door, A Swiftly Tilting Planet, and Troubling a Star. Planet is still one of my favorites.

Date: 2006-06-08 01:28 am (UTC)Right now I'm reading Ring of Endless Light, and I've got Troubling a Star and A Stone for a Pillow out on my list to read next. I love Planet, but I connect so well to Vickie in Ring and Star, those two are always at the top of my list for her work. Have you read any of her nonfictional meditations?

Date: 2006-06-08 01:58 am (UTC)I love Ring. That should probably be next on my list. It's funny; I was reading Star the other day and Vicky kept reminding me of you. The way she talks and thinks and her personality...L'Engle's writing style, too, reminds me of yours a bit. Interesting.
I've read a couple of her nonfiction works; the Genesis series (including Stone for a Pillow) and a couple of others, I think. It was a while ago, though; I should probably reread those, too. They're very insightful.
