Jun. 10th, 2006 05:53 pmOkay, so the open post was a bust. If you do have something you want to talk to me about, it's still open.
Weather, will you please pick a season and stick with it? Please? This on-again off-again thing is driving me nuts.
Aside from that, today was good. Thomas and I have been rewatching and laughing at the Star Wars prequels. We both agree that if Obi-Wan's in the scene, it stands a decent chance of being successful. Aside from that, you just have to laugh. And ooh at the pretty dresses Amidala wears.
And this weekend is the big sale at Books & Co., so Mom, Dad, and I headed down there after lunch. *cue happy sigh* We ended up letting Dad grab about four books and telling him that they were his Father's Day present. I'm actually going to swipe one of them as soon as he's finished reading it, it's by Stephen Jay Gould, called Rock of Ages. It's Gould's take on the whole science/religion divide. He basically outlines the same sort of divide that I've mentioned I hold, where science is intended to understand what the natural world has and why it exists, while religion answers moral truth, but the writing is just amazing.
I grabbed a book myself, a collection of Star Trek Voyager short stories. Glee.
And yes,
ljmckay, I have started that Doctor Who crossover. You want to be my beta when I finish it?
Speaking of writing, really, does anyone have a request for a story when I finish this one? Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, and Atlantis are probably your best bets for getting a story out of me, they're ones where I know I can get into a character or two's heads.

Date: 2006-06-10 10:36 pm (UTC)Of course I'll beta!! :D :D :D How could I not? You rock so much. I can't wait to read it. :D
By the way, I wrote a second chapter to the SGA/Cube crossover I started way back when. I sent a copy to your dad's email; should I have sent it to yours instead? (Do you even want the beta anymore? It's okay if you don't.)
Oh, and I read the transcript for "Rose" (figured I'd start at the beginning, right?) Wow. Now I really want the DVD set. Thanks again, so much!

Date: 2006-06-10 11:52 pm (UTC)I'm glad you want to beta, channeling a 16-year-old Rodney is... interesting to say the least.
I know, the transcripts are wonderful, but there's so much that Eccleston especially adds in to his acting that can't be put into words. Last I heard, the DVDs come out in early July.

Date: 2006-06-11 01:44 am (UTC)16-year-old Rodney, how excellent is that! I cannot wait.
Oh, yeah, no doubt. He has such an expressive face. July 4th, I think, is when the DVDs come out -- somewhat ironic, considering it's a British show! ;)
