When you're sitting there reading through a list of traits that are assigned to you because of your birth month and you're planning on crossing out ninty percent of them, it's not a good idea to do that meme. Sorry [livejournal.com profile] haldirsbitch.

I mentioned yesterday that I'd won fourth place on my drabble for H_E, so here it is:

June had always been the end of things for Minerva, a pattern etched out over decades of learning and teaching. For most of those years, she'd rejoiced in the end of the school year, a chance for refreshment and rejuvenation. Hard as it was for others to believe it of her, she needed the peace that summer brought.

The past three years had changed that forever.

And now, as she watched the rain fall down over the tomb of a man she'd never once thought would leave her, she doubted June would ever be joyful again. Too much had changed.

The challenge was to write something based on a haiku about the June rain.

And [livejournal.com profile] ljmckay, I figured out what to do about the story. When all else fails, change the narrator and things might start working better.

Oh, and new icon. Now I have both Star Trek and cake represented. Life does not get much better.

Really? Cwikey. Sorry it didn't work for you! ^.^

Otherwise, WOOHOO DRABBLE WINNINGS! *fratters off to read*

Ace ending. That was good.

Well, I was born in January, and I'm sitting there going: no, no, no, maybe somewhat, no, no, wow that one actually sort of describes me, no, no, no. That, plus the fact that I don't actually know the coding for strikethroughs, meant that I thought it wasn't worth it.

And thanks.

Ah, there you go! That should work, yes. Cool.

Awesome drabble, by the way. Dumbledore/McGonagall -- friendship or ship -- is the absolute coolest. Sad, but really awesome.

(PS - the strikethrough code is . I think.)

Ahem. That is to say, the strikethrough code is just plain "s" in the regular brackety things.

Thanks! I really like using Minerva, and her interactions with Dumbledore are just so fun.

Right now, McKay continues to about the point you beta-ed through, then Rose takes over. This lets me skip over coming up with convincing techno-babble, and avoid Rodney's antagonism directly.
