mari4212: Mr. Tumnus inviting Lucy to tea (mr. tumnus)

Busy day. Or, at least it felt like a busy day. It might just be that the caffiene in the soda is making me sleepy again.

Sara and Thomas are both back home. Apparently, the camp counselors at Sara's camp enjoyed her so much they threatened to keep her when Mom and Dad showed up to bring her home. I'm not that suprised, Sara is definitely the charmer of the family, and she had a week to work her magic on these counselors.

Today started relatively early, when Mom had to take Ginger to the vet for her yearly checkup. We were especially worried about a lump in her side that the vet had noticed last year. Mom came back with good news and bad news. The good news is that Ginger does not have cancer. The bad news is that the lump was a pellet from a pellet gun. A few years ago, we had neighbors whose son liked to go around shooting everything with this pellet gun, buildings, windows, passing cars. Either he hit Ginger by accident, or he deliberately shot at her. This is the reason I don't believe in the boy-next-door myth.

In better news, I got to hang out with my friends [livejournal.com profile] x5_jondi and [livejournal.com profile] lady_tigerfish this afternoon. [livejournal.com profile] lady_tigerfish has been working at the Human Race Theater with a children's program. Today marked the end of that program, and they put on a play. Chronicles of Narnia, to be exact. [livejournal.com profile] lady_tigerfish was running around before and during the play working, and [livejournal.com profile] x5_jondi and I got to sit and watch. And really, for a group of 8-12 year olds, they did a wonderful job. I have to give special props to the girls who played Jadis, Lucy, and Mr. Tumnus, as they all really stood out in their roles.

After the play, [livejournal.com profile] x5_jondi and I helped [livejournal.com profile] lady_tigerfish and her bosses clean up and break the set, before we took [livejournal.com profile] lady_tigerfish out for ice cream and conversation.

So it was a busy but fun afternoon.

Yay for hanging out with friends and seeing a show. Boo for poor Ginger's woes. On behalf of my gender I want to apologize for the kid's actions.

OMG, poor puppy! :( Are they going to leave the pellet in or remove it?

I hate pellet guns because they're so often used for crap like this.

Poor kitty, actually. And they're leaving the pellet in, it's inert and won't hurt her to leave it in.

Ah kitty, sorry. I have an irritating subconscious tendency to default to dog whenever people mention pets. *headdesk*

Glad to hear the pellet isn't going to cause her any problems. :)

I'm the same way, in reverse. Everything reverts to kitties with me, because they're all that I grew up with.

Thank you so much for that day, btw ^_^ It meant a lot to me to see you there, and chatting in your yard is always great fun, no matter how bloblike I might have been...

You're welcome. I enjoyed being able to just sit with you guys. People underestimate the fun of blobbing.

Hey, I don't know if you've seen the posts in my journal about a fandom charity project, but, um, I'm setting one up. Everything's just about ready to go, but I still need people to make up the Oversight Committee and I wanted to ask if you'd like to be a part of it.

It's literally only going to be about an hour of work per month right now. It might expand, but for now, all you'd have to do is verify the financial statements twice per month, post a screencap (with sensitive information obscured, of course) to the public community and occasionally check in with that community to make sure comments aren't getting out of hand. Which, I doubt we'll have that much traffic, but... You know.

Anyway. The reason I thought of you is because you're one of the most responsible and levelheaded LJers I know and it would be a credit to the project if you were involved.

If you aren't interested, no worries! (Although I'd appreciate it if you could recommend someone in your stead. ;)

I'm honored, and I'd definitely be willing to be part of the oversight committee.
